A repeat order is not a copy of the last one
A repeat ball screw order RFQ should start from the previous order number, model list, quantity, drawing revision, and shipment record. Even a repurchase has to confirm whether material, accuracy, packing, and lead time plan changed. For validity and payment terms, see how to confirm quotation validity and payment terms.
The efficient way to write a repeat RFQ takes one line: reference the previous order number and list only what changed. The old record already holds overall length, end machining and packing basis; retyping everything is how errors get introduced.
The model list has to be line by line
If the repeat order covers several models, list them line by line with model, diameter and lead, length, nut, quantity and whether end machining applies. Writing "same as last order" alone misses changed models or quantities. For sample-to-batch planning, see ball screw RFQ plan: from sample to batch order.
A practical line format:
| Model | Diameter × lead | Overall length | Thread length | Nut | End machining | Quantity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. 1605 | 16 × 5 | 800 mm | 700 mm | Single nut | Per drawing rev A on last order | 20 |
One specification per line, and the last column says whether it is "same as last time" or "changed". Origin and batch requirements belong on the same line.
Labels and packing may already have changed
For a distributor repeat order, labels, carton marks, neutral packing, rust prevention and shipment photos can move with the customer or market. State in the RFQ whether this order reuses the previous packing rules.
Packing changes fail late: production finishes, then the label fields turn out to have changed, and the goods have to be re-labelled or the shipment delayed.
Send the lead time plan early
Repeat orders are usually about restocking. State the lead time plan, target arrival date, whether split shipment applies, monthly quantity and the replenishment rhythm, so stock and machining can be planned.
Standard rolled C7 ships in about 3–7 days depending on machining volume and difficulty; a ground part from a drawing runs about 35–60 days depending on model and quantity and belongs in the replenishment plan early. Lead time runs from deposit received plus drawing confirmed.
Order decision table
| Repeat order item | What to send | Why it speeds repurchase |
|---|---|---|
| Previous order | Previous order number and model list | Finds the original quotation and production record. |
| Same or changed scope | Quantity, drawing revision, labels | Separates repeat work from new review. |
| Packing and delivery | Packing, destination, lead time plan | Prevents old shipment assumptions. |
| Future demand | Monthly forecast or replenishment rhythm | Helps plan repeat supply. |
RFQ checklist
- Repeat order purpose, previous order number, model list, quantity, and required delivery date.
- Drawing revision, end machining, nut style, accuracy, and whether anything changed.
- Labels, unbranded packaging, carton marks, shipment photos, destination, and lead time plan.
- Monthly quantity, replenishment rhythm, spare parts, and contact person for confirmation.
Send us the repurchase list
Send weimute the previous order number, model list, quantity, drawing revision, labels, and lead time plan. Our manufacturing and sales team can check old records and quote the repeat order with fewer repeated questions.
FAQ
Can I just say same as last order? It helps, but you should still confirm quantity, drawing revision, labels, packing, and delivery target — those five change most often.
Why include the previous order number? It lets weimute find the old order record and reduce specification mismatch. For planning sample-to-batch supply, see ball screw RFQ plan: from sample to batch order.
Does a repeat order need its lead time reconfirmed? Yes. Lead time runs from deposit received plus drawing confirmed, and the new order takes a different scheduling slot.

When the specification direction is clear, send the details below together with quantity, lead time, and packing requirements.
Include these details
- Model, length, quantity, purchase purpose, and target lead time.
- Drawing, sample photos, application parameters, or old-part dimensions.
- Packing, label, inspection, and quotation version to confirm before payment.
